Settling In

I'm starting to get adjusted here at Judy's ( or Trick Towers ) as I like to call it. It still does feel funny to drive up the street and see other people living in "my house" So far I haven't embarrassed myself by pulling into their driveway and pushing the garage opener repeatedly but you never know. I do enjoy being able to tune out the media reports of the depressed economy and increasing forclosures. I feel really good about the fact that in 18 months I'll be on my way to Florida unless the state has burned to a crisp from wildfires or been flattened by a hurricane or run out of water but that's another blog.

Incredible Nurse

I opened one of my nursing journals today and there was an article on a 90 year old nurse working full time nights at a local nursing home. I took care of her 4 years ago in the ED after she had a morning car accident. At first I thought she had a head injury because she kept telling me she had just gotten off work but I did a neuro exam which was negative and as we talked I realized she was fine and truly was still working. Obviously she didn't have a full load but she loved what she did and wanted to keep at it. I thought it was amazing at that time and here she is still working. Part of me thinks if I'm still working at 90 someone shoot me but mostly I just applaud what she's doing.
