Choking on Paperwork - Redone

The hospital I work for has added yet another new form for nurses to fill out. A special medication sheet. We now have to write out every single prescription, otc, and supplements a patient takes on every single patient that comes thru the door. Our nursing home patients arrive with a preprinted sheet with all of their 20-30 meds on it and we have to rewrite each med on our own sheet instead of simply xeroxing the one they arrived with! I counted 16 different places on our ER charts that I have to initial date and sign my name. I feel like I work for the government not a hospital with the bloated, time consuming, and ridiculous rules and regulations. More time charting less time with your patients. I shudder to think of the lost trees making up the 10 different forms we have on our charts when 2 would suffice!
