And the band played on

Our new three times larger ER should open in about 8 weeks and our volume of patients is up 35 percent over the last 2 years and no increase in staff. Every one put on pedometers last weekend and in 12 hours we each averaged 10 miles. Administrators "don't see the need" for more staff so they were invited by the staff to work a 12 hour shift with a nurse but of course declined. Three nurses have had 8 week leaves to repair their torn knee joints. The staff is getting agitated and that's good

damn. that's insane. i doubt that "management" would ever seriously consider trying out the job they're supposed to be managing. it's always seemed funny to me - if they have no experience with a job, how could they possibly tell you how to do it and not screw up royally???

sometimes I feel like Dilbert! I would love to see how they're legs would feel after 12 hours on concrete
